Wouldn't it be nice to be
able to work on audio post-production tasks collaboratively, remotely?
Cutting back on travel expenses? Pushing your show On-Air faster than
the competition?
Imagine: you are sitting in front of your studio workstation, running
your preferred audio editing software. Installed on the very same PC, a
running V*CALL
software captures live feeds from remote collaborators, be it an
occasional voice talent working from home or one of your colleagues
reporting while on a trip overseas.
On their side, they may run any third party IP codec as long as it is N/ACIP compliant (see EBU tech 3326) or, preferably, one of Digigram's 100% software IP codecs, namely V*MOTE.
On your side, V*CALL will grab any IP-based audio stream from the "cloud", send it to a physical audio output for monitoring purposes and, better still, send it for direct insertion as one of the audio editor's tracks via a component named ULink.
Here's the magic: The ULink component will be seen as an actual audio device by any audio app compatible with Windows audio drivers.
Instead of recording directly -through a studio sound card- a journalist sitting in the same facility, you can now record the very same talent even if he or she is hundreds of miles away, through V*CALL, and put the result On-Air in a breeze. The quality is the same as if they were standing right next to you.
