Vx cards installation and setup reference (PDF)

Hardware Requirements
One card slot, PCI 2.1 compliant.
One available IRQ line (level sensitive).
256 bytes of available I/O space.

Hardware Installation

Installing the card

Check for a free PCI extension slot and gently insert the card. Press down to set it firmly into the slot and tighten the screw.

Input Adustments
Two input level ranges are available and can be selected by the bank of four switches SW2,
Typical +4dBu (max. +22dBu) : All four switches ON
Typical -10dBV (max. +10dBu) : All four switches OFF

Input impedance can be selected by the bank of two switches SW1
600O : All two switches ON
High (> 10kOhms) : All two switches OFF

Interrupt request - The Interrupt Request (IRQ) number is set up at start-up by the PCI PnP BIOS. Be sure there is at least one IRQ resource available.

I/O address - Addresses are set up at start-up by the PCI PnP BIOS.

Thermal issues - Under heavy use, temperature may increase. Therefore, cards should be installed vertically and an additional fan in front of the cards may be necessary.

Software requirements

  • Digigram wave driver for VX version 2.10 or higher (PC).
  • Digigram driver for Sound Manager version 2.0 or higher (Mac).

Software Installation (npRuntime)

I) For a first installation, please follow these steps:
  1. Run npruntime.exe and follow instructions. Declare the cards to install (ISA, PCI, PC Card).
  2. Switch off the computer
  3. Install the Digigram board into the computer
  4. Restart the computer
  5. If you want to install the wave driver, follow instructions that appear during the npRuntime installation process.

IMPORTANT: If you have inserted Digigram PCI or PCMCIA cards before a first driver installation under Windows 95/98, select "cancel" when the wizard detects it and asks for a driver. Then follow the above procedure.

II) For a npRuntime update:

  1. Under Windows NT, if the wave driver is loaded, remove it from Control panel, Multimedia, Devices, Audio Devices. It is not necessary to do this under Windows 95/98.
  2. Run setup.exe. It updates the np driver.
  3. The wave driver is automatically updated under Windows 95/98. Under Windows NT, you can then install the new wave driver as described in I-5.
  4. Switch off the machine and reboot.

III)For a npRuntime uninstallation : Open Windows Control Panel. Click on the Add/Remove programs icon. Then, choose np Runtime in the list and remove it.
